Feed Hungry Families in Kenya #GivingTuesday
When the kids are in school at Heshima they are guaranteed 2 meals per day. When not in school, they will likely eat a piece of bread for breakfast and some rice for dinner. On the last day before winter break, we are going to send each family home with food to sustain them and give them an extra meal or two each day while off of school. It only takes $50 for us to feed a family of four while the kids are out of school. Because of the horrible drought across Africa, 60% of the crops have failled in Kenya which has made it hard for Kenyans to eat ugali (a type of ground maize) that they typically eat daily. Due to this, the price of ugali has doubled – making it even harder for families to purchase nutritious food for their children.
