$200 delivers a cozy, new bed to a child who would otherwise be sleeping on the floor or sharing a bed. It is estimated that about 39,000 kids in Minnesota do not have a bed to sleep in.
Each week, My Very Own Bed works with a team of volunteers to deliver 30-40 new beds to children living in the Twin Cities metropolitan area of Minnesota. My Very Own Bed learns about these children through their network of referral partners – organizations who are supporting the families in other ways (supportive housing, mental health, domestic violence services, education) and identify a need for a bed or beds for children in the home. Most of the children have recently experienced homelessness, and providing a bed to them helps transform their new housing into a home. The bed also provides the children with a space of their own while supporting productive sleep to help them heal, grow, and thrive at home and in school.
