Clean Water in Bugadde, Uganda

Since 1993 we?ve been empowering locally-led, mercy-based programs in the developing world. We serve orphans, child labor victims and young trafficking survivors through 10 resident-care homes and 6 education centers in Asia and Africa. Rather than spending precious resources deploying Western workers, we?re empowering existing local leadership with funding, oversight, and small business development. We partnered with our Kampala, Uganda native team in 2011 when we launched our Children?s Hope Center School in the slums of that city. In the last 7 years, we have served 407 children and employed 22 teachers. Through our Hope Center School, we have also been able to serve 3 fresh-cooked meals a day to over 2,000 children ? that includes both our students and other children in the local slum colony where our school is located. The school provides a primary school education for grades K-8 to the children in this slum area of Kampala who would otherwise have no access to an education. The children study Luganda (one of the native languages of Uganda), English, science, social studies, math, reading, and physical education at the school.
