In Guatemala, it rains every single day from May to November. This makes it difficult for the children to go outside and play. Currently, the roof structure of the gathering space at the orphanage is unstable – it is full of termites. So the kids cannot use this space.
Once the roof is completed, the children will have a large, dry, indoor space to play where they can gather not only as a large group, but with their brothers and sisters who live in other houses at the orphanage.
Once the roof structure has been replaced, the building will serve as a gathering and activity center that will allow the 100 children and staff of Casa Shalom to have a gathering place large enough for everyone during the 6 month rainy season (from May to November).
